U.N. panel prepares to expand North Korea sanction

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) – The United States, South Korea Server 2003 Key, Japan and European nations have submitted to the U.N. Security Council’s North Korea sanctions committee lists of individuals and firms they want blacklisted after Pyongyang’s recent rocket launch, envoys said on Monday.

Earlier this month the 15-nation council strongly condemned North Korea’s April 13 rocket launch, called for adding new names to the list of those hit by existing U.N. sanctions and warned Pyongyang of further consequences if it carried out another missile launch or nuclear test.

“So far the United States, European council members, South Korea and Japan have proposed new designations ahead of tomorrow’s midnight deadline (to agree on new names) Buy windows 7 key,” a council diplomat told Reuters on condition of anonymity.

It was not immediately clear which firms and individuals the council would blacklist, assuming it reached agreement.

The Security Council imposed sanctions on Pyongyang in response to its 2006 and 2009 nuclear tests.

China, North Korea’s protector on the Security Council and a permanent veto-wielding member, also backed the council’s “presidential statement” from two weeks ago, ensuring its unanimous adoption. The statement gave the council’s North Korea sanctions committee 15 days to propose new sanctions listings.

“That deadline might be extended for a few days to give China a little more time to think about the proposed designations,” another council diplomat said. The deadline for agreement is midnight EDT on Tuesday (0400 GMT on Wednesday).

“It looks as if China won’t stand in the way of an agreement (on expanding the sanctions list) though they won’t necessarily accept adding all the proposed individuals and entities,” he added. Several other Western diplomats said they also expected China would agree to an expansion of the U.N. blacklist.

Diplomats say that if the committee can agree on adding new names to the blacklist, it will be a further sign of Beijing’s irritation with its hermit neighbor over a satellite rocket launch North Korea had been widely urged not to carry out.

The North Korea sanctions committee includes all 15 council members. It works on the basis of consensus Office 2007 Key, which means any individual council member can block agreement.

The U.N. blacklist includes individuals facing international travel bans and asset freezes, companies whose assets are to be frozen and goods that North Korea is not allowed to export or import.

The current list includes eight companies and five individuals. Under two Security Council sanctions resolutions from 2006 and 2009, North Korea is barred from importing nuclear and ballistic-missile technology, as well as luxury goods.

Supporting Women’s Exclusive Right To Make Own Decisions

On April 28th, 2012, at 9:30 a.m., thousands of Colorado women and their family members will gather at Civic Center Park’s Greek Amphitheater for a rally to protect women’s access to health care, and for the right of each woman to make her own health care decisions. State and federal legislators, musicians, poets replica watches, community leaders and ordinary Coloradans will be addressing current legislation in Colorado and other states. Following the rally replica watches, attendees will march around the State Capitol and back around Civic Center Park to where they started.

Presenters at the rally will include:

Human Rights Attorney Beth Klein
Musical Comedy by “The Raging Grannies”
Unitarian Universalist Reverend Dr. Nori Rost
Rosemary Harris Lytle, CO NAACP State President
House Representatives Crisanta Duran and Lois Court
Award-winning Poetry Slam Artists replica watches, Suzi Q and Jen Rinaldi
Music By The Foxfield Four (formerly the David James Band)
State Representative and U.S. Congressional Candidate Joe Miklosi
State Senators Morgan Carroll, Rev. Lucia Guzman, and Betty Boyd
State Senate President and US Congressional Candidate Brandon Shaffer

The rally and march have been organized by a grassroots group of Colorado women, primarily using social media, following talk show host Rush Limbaugh’s personal attack on law student Sandra Fluke, and Foster Friess’s comment that women should “put an aspirin between their knees” as a form of birth control. According to the Guttmacher Institute, more than 1,100 separate provisions were presented in state legislatures across the country in 2011 that attempted to limit a woman’s family planning options or access to health care. Approximately 135 of them were passed and became law.

Lone Tree resident Jean Tinley plans to bring her whole family to the March. “Women’s reproductive healthcare should remain in our hands and those of our doctors, not legislators. Family planning is a personal and private decision,” she said.

“Extremists in Congress like Mike Coffman are deliberately increasing the cost of health care for millions of women. At the same time, they have let the Violence Against Women Act expire. It is outrageous,” said State Representative Joe Miklosi.

Last month, Kara Swisher reported that Schultz and Accel Partners’ Kevin Efrusy were suddenly stepping down from the Groupon board.

Schultz’s departure was effective immediately, while Efrusy will not be standing for reelection at the company’s annual meeting in June.

In the interview on CNBC, Schultz said Tattoo Inks, “I only committed to one year. It just so happens that my exit was timed with the problem they had last quarter, and no one should read anything into that.”

When asked whether the company has enough adult supervision, he added: “I have confidence in the board and Andrew, and that’s all I have to say at this time.”

Groupon’s stock has continued a downward spiral after it revised its fourth-quarter results to account for higher than expected returns during the holiday period. Today, the stock is down 1.3 percent Good Tattoo Ink, or 13 cents, to trade at $9.94 a share.

At that price, it is worth half as much as at the time of its initial public offering.

On the same day that Schultz and Efrusy announced their departures Tattoo Gun Buy, Groupon said it planned to appoint both Daniel Henry, CFO of American Express, and Deloitte Vice Chairman Robert Bass. Henry joins immediately, in Schultz’s place.

Gingrich pulls plug on wild ride White House bid

ARLINGTON, Virginia (Reuters) – Newt Gingrich ended his run for U.S. president on Wednesday after dazzling in televised debates but slumping to defeat in dozens of Republican primaries under attack from rivals who portrayed him as the consummate Washington insider.

The former U.S. House of Representatives speaker, the face of the Republican Party in the mid-1990s, badly trailed front-runner Mitt Romney in polls and his campaign piled up a debt of $4.3 million.

Gingrich announced his departure from the White House race in a long statement to the media at a hotel in Arlington Eyebrow tattoo supply, Virginia outside the capital that included references to his many grandiose ideas like the establishment of a U.S. colony on the moon.

He fell short of endorsing his former rival Romney but said voters had a clear choice in November’s general election between Democratic President Barack Obama and the former Massachusetts governor.

“I am asked sometimes – is Mitt Romney conservative enough? And my answer is simple: compared to Barack Obama?” Gingrich said. “This is not a choice between Mitt Romney and Ronald Reagan. This is a choice between Mitt Romney and the most radical, leftist president in American history.”

Gingrich, who had scaled back his campaigning for weeks after cutting staff, stood on a small stage with his wife Callista and other family by his side as he described his year-long presidential bid as “truly a wild ride.”

“I could never have predicted either the low points or the high points. It was all sort of amazing and astonishing,” Gingrich said.

He briefly led the Republican pack before the Iowa caucuses on January 3 but fell victim to a new force in U.S. politics: the independent “Super PACs” or political action committees that have no limits on how much money they can raise or spend in support of candidates.

Although Gingrich had the support of one Super PAC, a pro-Romney group spent millions in negative ads attacking Gingrich, which was the start of his campaign’s demise.

The former candidate must now work on paying off his debt. He was in talks with the Republican National Committee to figure out how to get some money. Romney’s camp is not expected to directly help Gingrich pay it off but may introduce his team to donors who could help him in that effort.

“We have offered to be helpful,” a Romney official said.

AWKWARD OR ATTACK DOG?

Though Gingrich vowed he would work for the rest of this year to make sure his party wins the White House and Congress, some of his comments about Romney could come back to haunt him.

Obama’s campaign wasted no time in producing a video splicing together sound bites of what it called “awkward moments” where Gingrich criticized Romney, called him a liar and questioned his fitness to serve as president.

Author of the Contract With America that helped Republicans win back control of Congress in 1994, Gingrich won primaries in South Carolina and his home state of Georgia this year but failed to make a mark in dozens of other states, including in larger ones such as Florida and Ohio.

Republican strategist Ford O’Connell said Gingrich will quickly be back on the campaign trail, likely as an “attack dog” for the Republican Party as it seeks to unseat Obama.

“The GOP needs him. They need conservative attack dogs who can break up the Obama message machine,” said O’Connell. “He has the ability to take complex items and boil them down to be palatable Kool-Aid for conservatives.”

“He’s one of the best messengers of the right who, on a moment’s notice can rebut someone.”

Gingrich’s run turned ideas like establishing a U.S. moon colony and having school children work as janitors into front-page fodder. Last month he made headlines when a penguin bit his hand during a visit to a zoo in St. Louis.

Political commentator and former Gingrich adviser Matt Towery said the former presidential candidate would not have much gravitas talking about the economy on the Republican trail this year.

“Newt is of limited value now,” said Towery of Gingrich, whom he has known for 32 years. “He has that massive debt, so it’s hard to talk about fiscal issues.”

His campaign was hurt by en masse staff desertions last year when staffers were fed up that Gingrich chose to take a Greek cruise with his wife instead of campaigning. Evangelicals are wary of thrice-wed Gingrich’s marital history. He had an affair with Callista for years while married to his second wife.

He also faced criticism of being too much of a Washington insider as opponents publicized past lucrative contracts with mortgage giant Freddie Mac.

Romney issued a brief statement after Gingrich pulled out Stealth Tattoo Machine, saying that his former rival had brought “creativity and intellectual vitality” to American political life.

“During the course of this campaign, Newt demonstrated eloquence and fearlessness in advancing conservative ideas,” Romney said in the statement. “I am confident that he will continue to make important contributions to our party and to the life of the nation.”

Gingrich outlined a series of ideas he planned to pursue now that the campaign is over Tattoo Kits For Beginners, and they sounded a lot like his regular campaign promises.

He said he wanted to talk about religious liberty, American energy independence, rain research and hopes to convince university students the importance of personal social security savings accounts.

The author of two dozen books, Gingrich is also likely to see his public speaking fees rise.

Romney and Obama Lost in the Arizona Desert

The Supreme Court yesterday heard arguments on Arizona’s anti-immigrant law SB 1070. I was inside the chamber as the justices indicated they were inclined to uphold at least part of the law, the "show me your papers" provision. It allows police to detain people they believe are in the country illegally while their immigration status is determined.

It’s tragic that we have even gotten to this point. At the same time, compelling arguments have been made about how opponents of SB 1070 might benefit from galvanizing the support of the Latino community.  A political silver lining for some, perhaps, but that won’t matter for the families who suddenly find themselves at the mercy of local law enforcement able to freely discriminate.

Earlier this year while campaigning in Arizona, Mitt Romney declared his support for the state’s ‘model’ immigration law, and pledged to drop the Justice Department’s challenge to SB 1070 should he become president.

Even worse, he told voters about his plan for addressing undocumented immigration, which amounts to finding ways to make life so difficult for the undocumented that they ’self deport.’

Imagine how that might play out.

Perhaps it will look something like the Underground Railroad of the Free State/Slave State days or a mass exodus of the oppressed out of the hands of their oppressors a la biblical Egypt.

To anti-immigration extremists, this scenario might seem like sound Emilio Pucci Dresses sale, constitutional public policy. To me, it sounds like an America where we might have to put the Statue of Liberty in storage or be called hypocrites.

Now that Romney is virtually assured the GOP nomination Missoni Dresses sale, he is desperately trying to shed his ’severely’ anti-immigration skin that has baked in the Arizona desert while he pandered to the SB 1070 zealots. No doubt about it, Mitt must molt. Conditions have changed.

‘Self deport’ and praise for SB 1070, for example, have repelled potential Latino supporters in battleground states as well as farmers and businessmen. It was no surprise that in an attempt to back away from SB 1070, a Romney campaign spokesperson last week ‘clarified’ that the candidate, in fact, did not call SB 1070 a model immigration law, but was instead referring to Arizona’s e-verify system.

That was news to the law’s author, former Arizona Senate President Russell Pearce, who, like the rest of us, was sure Romney was referring to SB 1070. So was I, which may be the only time you’ll hear me agreeing with anything said by Pearce.

President Obama’s immigration record isn’t exactly blemish-free either. Under his watch, the federal government’s unjust Secure Communities deportation program has greatly expanded. Though perhaps not as toxic as SB 1070, Secure Communities often results in racial profiling and leads minority communities to distrust law enforcement.

Still, Obama is rightfully challenging unconstitutional immigration laws like Arizona’s, and he steadfastly remains on the right side of important legislation like the DREAM Act. But in trying to get Congress to put immigration reform on the agenda, the president has fallen short. Challenging SB 1070 merely on the grounds that state law cannot displace federal law on immigration laws does not address the larger issues at stake.

The Arizona desert can be an unforgiving place. But it can also be one where an immigration policy that is fair and respects civil liberties can flourish. The heat is on for the candidates to make that happen.

Matching Camaros commemorate 40th anniversary of 1

Matching Chevrolet Camaros built by OER – Click above for a high-res image gallery

2009 marks the 40th anniversary of the legendary 1969 Yenko Camaro. The king of classic Camaros, the Yenko was the clever creation of Don Yenko, owner of a Chevy dealership in Canonsburg Tattoo Supplies, Pennsylvania, who figured out Camaros could be ordered with an L-72 427CI V8 through GM’s Central Office Production Order program, originally intended as fleet vehicles for police cars and taxi cabs. Each car came equipped with power disc brakes, a 4.10 rear end, upgraded suspension, a heavy duty radiator, front and rear spoilers, a cowl-induction hood, and plenty of Yenko badges and graphics. Just over 200 ‘69 Yenko Camaros were built, making them some of the most rare and valuable muscle cars in existence today.

To commemorate the anniversary, Chop, Cut Tattoo Supplies, Rebuild teamed up with Original Equipment Reproduction (OER) and D&P Classic Chevy to build a Yenko Camaro tribute car. The goal was to create a new pony car that Don Yenko himself would have built using today’s technology, and it looks like they did an incredible job. Starting with an all new ‘69 Camaro body shell from the OER parts catalog, the team of builders dropped in a brand news LS7 crate motor from GM Performance Parts and added a six-speed transmission, rack and pinion steering, six-piston brakes, 18-inch wheels and tires, and more. To boot, they got their hands on a 2010 Camaro and painted it to match complete with the OEM body kit and upgraded Stoptech brakes. Obamathe Pepsi Candidate

It is oddly fitting that the convention that will give Barack Obama the Democratic nomination for president will take place in Denver’s Pepsi Center. During the primaries, some bloggers argued that Obama’s insurgent campaign made him Pepsi to Hillary’s establishment Coke. An eagle-eyed observer (who happens to work for Pepsi’s P.R. firm) noticed that during the primary debates Replica Emilio Pucci Dresses, Obama could be seen refreshing himself with Aquafina water—a Pepsi brand—while Hillary Clinton drank Coke’s Dasani. In addition, Wonkette and others have noted that the round “Obama ‘08″ logo is similar to the red and blue yin-yang-like symbol that Pepsi-Cola has used since 1991.

Of course, the connection between Obama and Pepsi is largely accidental. In early 2006, when Denver began lobbying the Democratic National Committee to host the convention, very few would have predicted that Obama would be the nominee. And PepsiCo Inc., the $40-billion-a-year food conglomerate headquartered in Purchase, N.Y., does not manage Denver’s Pepsi Center; it bought the arena’s naming rights for 20 years in 1999.

But while the connection may be arbitrary, the Obama-Pepsi affinity is strong. Last month Cheap Herve Leger gown, when Obama assembled a team of financial heavyweights for a summit to discuss economic issues, one of the most prominent corporate leaders in attendance was Indra Nooyi Cheap DKNY Dresses, the Pepsi CEO whose Indian heritage makes her Cheap Missoni Dresses, like Obama, one of the few nonwhites to reach the highest levels of power in her profession. Although Nooyi hasn’t endorsed Obama—few CEOs make explicit endorsements—it’s hard to imagine that she doesn’t support him; she and her husband gave $27,000 to John Kerry’s campaign in 2004. (A spokeswoman says that no comparable appearance with John McCain has been scheduled, though she’s not aware of any Nooyi donation to Obama.) According to the database operated by the Center for Responsive Politics, Pepsi employees have given $39,700 to Obama’s campaign, compared with a meager $6,000 from Coca-Cola employees.

Perhaps more significant, the prevailing theme of Obama’s campaign meshes well with Pepsi’s corporate messaging. Pepsi’s marketing has for decades tried to exude youthful energy, from the early ’60s attempts to adopt baby boomers as the “Pepsi generation” to the ’90s fantasy commercials depicting Pepsi as a veritable soda fountain of youth, transforming nursing-home residents into skateboarders. Pepsi’s advertising slogan not too long ago was “The Choice of a New Generation,” which could almost be Obama’s. Certainly his strategy in the general election, as it did in the primaries, will rely on youth support that is almost as fanatical and fantastic as the fictional version in Pepsi’s ads.

Actually, Pepsi’s appeal to the young has a corporate rationale and goes back to the beginning of its modern history. (After a bankruptcy, the company was reborn in the 1930s.) In order to build market share against the incumbent Coca-Cola and smaller rivals Cheap Christian Audigier Clothes, Pepsi offered 12 ounces of cola for a nickel—6-ounce bottles were the standard at the time—and held fast to the 5-cent price for several years even as rising sugar prices during and after World War II compelled others to go to 6 cents and more. (This was the origin of Pepsi’s renowned jingle: “Pepsi-Cola hits the spot/ Twelve full ounces, that’s a lot.”) As a result Cheap Herve Leger v neck, Pepsi’s customer base skewed very young.

The likelihood that you’ll ever get your hands on an original Bill Thomas Cheetah is slim Buy Herve Leger v neck, to put it mildly. The iconic early 60s sports cars are rare as hen’s teeth and priced accordingly. While the originals may be all but unattainable, replicas can be fairly readily had, though they still aren’t what you’d call cheap.

This week, there are two Bill Thomas Cheetah Continuation models on eBay Motors, one a convertible and one in coupe form. Not originals and not really replicas, these cars are about as authentic as one can hope to get without winning the lottery. In the spirit of their original Corvette roots, both sport Chevrolet V8 power, rear-wheel drive and four-speed manual transmissions. The convertible, titled as a 1965 Herve Leger sale, sports a 502-inch big-block Chevrolet mill, which only has 1,700 pounds of 4130-chromoly steel and fiberglass to push around. In case that weren’t enough Buy Herve Leger gown, the Cheetah’s wheelbase is a scant 90 inches. Sounds good to us. Buy-It-Now on the red ‘vert is a reasonable sounding $34,000.

It was the GM-powered Carnegie Mellon team that took first prize at the DARPA Urban Grand Challenge last year. The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times Best place to buy Replica Piaget Watches, and New York Times lead, while the Wall Street Journal tops its world-wide newsbox, with yesterday’s elections in France, where Nicolas Sarkozy was chosen to be the country’s new president. The conservative Sarkozy, the son of a Hungarian immigrant, soundly beat Socialist Ségolène Royal, who aspired to become France’s first female president, with 53 percent of the vote. Interest in the election was high Replica Baume & Mercier Watches, as a near-record 84 percent of the country’s registered voters cast a ballot. Sarkozy has promised to bring about economic and social change to France, as well as improve relations with the United States. “The French people have chosen change Replica Breguet Watches,” Sarkozy said in his victory speech. He will officially replace President Jacques Chirac on May 17.

USA Todayleads with word that the Army is fixing the doors in all armored Humvees currently being used in combat in Iraq because they can leave the soldiers trapped inside during an attack. The problem is a result of the efforts to add armor to the Humvees, which can make a door weigh 600 pounds or more. “This is just another reason why we need to get as many of the new MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) vehicles as possible into the field, as soon as possible,” Democratic Sen. Joseph Biden of Delaware said.

Everyone goes high with a look at how Sarkozy’s election is likely to signal a new era of co-operation and friendship between the United States and France. “France will always be by the U.S.’s side when it needs her,” Sarkozy said in his victory speech. At the same time, he made clear that “friends can think differently” and he called on the United States “not to oppose the fight against global warming.” Although Sarkozy has promised to bring in a wave of changes to the country, he will first have to face some of France’s most powerful institutions, such as its labor unions, which have been successful at derailing reforms in the past. Yesterday, the NYT’s Week in Review looked into why it is unlikely that the elections will bring dramatic changes to France.

The NYT notes that although Royal had asked women voters to pick her Replica Vacheron Constantin Watches, Sarkozy got the majority of their votes. The WP points out some analysts believe there is so much conflict within the Socialist Party that it is at risk of disintegrating. The LAT says that Royal’s speech “sounded like the first round” in the fight for the party’s leadership that is likely to take place in the near future. The WSJ mentions up high that Sarkozy’s victory probably means a right-wing majority will be voted in during the June legislative elections.

The WP fronts, and everyone goes inside with, the U.S. military announcing that eight U.S. soldiers were killed in Iraq yesterday. In total, the Post says 12 U.S. service members died in Iraq over the weekend. A roadside bomb in Diyala province killed six of these soldiers, along with a European journalist who was not identified. A senior U.S. commander warned there is likely to be an increase in American casualties in the coming months. “All of us believe that in the next 90 days, you’ll probably see an increase in American casualties because we are taking the fight to the enemy,” Maj. Gen. Rick Lynch said. All the papers carry wire stories reporting that an Afghan soldier shot and killed two U.S. troops yesterday.

The LAT fronts news that a coalition of 36 companies, including some of the country’s largest corporations, is planning to begin a new lobbying campaign that will call for medical insurance to be expanded to everyone. Under their plan, everyone would be required to have health insurance, which would be subsidized for those with low incomes. The new campaign is likely to aid efforts in states such as California, where Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has called for an overhaul in health-care laws. Accompanying the story, the LAT has a helpful rundown of the different proposals.

The Post fronts word that Cho Seung-Hui never received the treatment ordered in December 2005 by a judge who declared him mentally ill. Basically, no one followed up on the judge’s orders. It seems everyone in the system knows that these types of involuntary outpatient commitments aren’t ever enforced. According to Virginia law, community-services boards have to follow up to make sure a person gets the court-ordered treatment. “That’s news to us,” the man in charge of the boards said when he was read the law.

The LAT fronts a staggering number: $373 million. That’s how much money Spider-Man 3 made in worldwide ticket sales  during its opening weekend (the NYT puts the number at $227 million). To put it simply, more than four out of every five moviegoers around the world went to see the third installment of the adventures of Peter Parker and his web-weaving powers. It shattered the previous record held by Star Wars: Epidosde III Revenge of the Sith that took in $254 million in its opening weekend. In the United States and Canada alone Replica Dolce & Gabbana Watches, the movie took in almost $150 million. Studio executives are optimistic that good news for Spidey means they can expect big numbers from their upcoming summer blockbusters with an analyst telling the NYT Where buy best Replica Dewitt Watches, “this should be the first $4 billion summer.” The movie’s success also means executives at Sony are likely to continue the Spider-Man franchise. As Sony co-chairman Amy Pascal tells USAT, “This is beyond our dreams. I’m going to keep making Spider-Man movies until someone stops me.”
